THESE STREETS HAVE LAYERS

Is that really a stencil of Hello Kitty taking a dump? Why yes and it is awesome! The back alleys of Hong Kong rule. The layers of stone, brick, bamboo, exposed electrical work and polished marble accompanied with the ware and tear of hard living and ocean air really gives this place it's own flare. Now add I nice layer of street art on top of all that and it makes it that much cooler. I don't think I walked more than 5 feet at a time between snapping photos (sorry about that Brett) and I was loving every minute. Here are some of my favorites. This is day one mind you, much more to come.

I'M ON A BOAT!

After flying 14 hours to get to Hong Kong you would think I'd be ready to pass out...possibly grab a bite to eat, take a shower and be so stoked to stretch out that I would do a face plant on the hotel bed and do just that, pass out. Well as this all sounds fantastic and the first two things were a must, wasting a day laying in my room while in Hong Kong was not an option. Not to mention if I went to sleep now I'd never get my body on local time. I chose to hang with Brett and take the ferry across the harbor and meet up with an old friend Loc who now lives here in Hong Kong. The sight of the harbor never ceases to amaze me. The hotels, office buildings, sky rise apartments and fabulous restaurants line the waterway as far as the eye can see. Take a look for yourself...

SMALL TOWN ODITIES

Have you ever left the house in need of a couple of taxidermy piranhas, a sweet unicorn shirt, a buffalo head, some turquoise jewelry and a stiff Jameson and water? Well, I know the place for you...if you are ever in Folsom, CA you can get all of this and more along old Main street. From the candy shop to the Folsom Hotel bar, we took in the sights and explored what this place had to offer. I love this stuff and could have spent the whole day taking photos. Here are some of my favorites...hope it illustrates the greatness of this place.

THE SAME AS IT EVER WAS

What comes to mind when I say I went to Folsom for labor day? Did I get arrested? Was I hanging out with the ghost of the great Johnny Cash? Well, sorry to disappoint you, but I was up there for Angela's good friend Julia's wedding. Now, the beautiful ceremony and reception took place at a vineyard 45 minutes away in Plymouth, but the hotel was in sleepy old Folsom. I couldn't stop singing Cash in my head the whole time and a quick morning walk through the old town had plenty to take in. See for yourself.

CA LOVE

It's Disneyland's younger sluttier sister. That's right, I said it and the land that used to be the Pinocchio or Timon parking lot is finally coming into it's own. I was lucky enough to have an annual pass growing up to the happiest place on earth. My sisters and I would get them every year for Christmas and we were even known to ditch school to gallivant around the park on a week day every now and then. These days Ange and I love going for a couple hours, grabbing a glass of wine and a corn dog to unwind on a Friday night. Summer has finally hit southern California and we decided to make a run to the park for a day in the sun. Here are a couple of photo's from the Grizzly River Rapids Ride. Enjoy.

FAIR ANTICS

What's so cool about the fair? Why do people want to spend their time and hard earned cash to eat a bunch of deep fried food, get spun around on rides built in a week operated by traveling Gypsy's and see the worlds largest cow for a dollar? Now that I think of it, that sounds awesome and I look forward to it every year! Here are some my favorite photos from this years trip to the OC fair. Good times had and the deep fried Oreo's were actually good. Imagine that.

VINTAGE MILITARY RULES

No secret, I love vintage shopping, almost as much as I love camo. There is just something about sifting through discarded clothing and the thrill of the hunt that will live in me forever. Vintage and camo together?...now were talking! OK, now I really sound like clothing geek, but I don't care...it rules! What I'm showcasing today is a killer vintage military warehouse on the outskirts of Los Angeles called K&K. By appointment only, you too can crawl through mounds upon mounds for military gear from every era. They offered to hand pick stuff and bring it to us, but where is the fun in that? Instead Milk and I grabbed a flash light, a mask and headed for the hills. We came out with some insane stuff, battle tested and smelling of napalm death, but great ideas non the less. Check it out if you ever get the chance!
